Fine Woodworkers of Austin Meeting October 1, 2009

John Parkinson presented his experiences during his apprenticeship in the U.K. The presentation from the meeting is available here.

Charlie Plesums then explained the apprenticeship program that David Petersen has set up. Charlie and Terry Hall then asked for additional volunteers to assist with the Decemember meeting program on legs. Peter Clarke will already be presenting on ball and claw feet. Anyone interested should contact Terry Hall.

Mark Wells then presented his favorite cordless drill, the brace and bit. He mentioned that additional information on old tools can be obtained from the Old Tools List.

Curtis Turner gave a review of the Lie Nielson show that he assisted with in Houston. Curtis also showed off several pieces of wood that he picked up at the lunber store where the event took place. For those interested, and in the Houston area, the place was Tru Timber (713-688-0066).

The meeting was wrapped up wit Bob Brown showing several pieces of live edge slabs and various finishes used on them. This was followed by another generous door prize giveaway by Bob from Mesquite Burl.
